SPOILER ALERT
Don't read this website if you don't want to learn absolutely everything about Fringes of the Empire's items, monsters, music, etc.
This website is for people who want to create new content for the game, and we don't want to ruin it for you if you haven't gotten to the point where you want to make your own stories for the game.
This is the official Lost Astronaut's Fringes of the Empire Platform Editor documentation website for people who wish to create their own content for Lost Astronaut Fringes of the Empire.
The content that users create will be stored at our page on Moddb.com or at Steam Workshop, if you wish and if we're greenlit. Users who have created content and wish to announce it may do so at our Greenlight page, or Moddb.
You can find out more about the game itself at the Lost Astronaut Studios Website
The modding features can be activated in the options panel of the full version. Once activated, the options panel will provide two new buttons.
- The first is labeled "Editor" and it lets you edit and create content 'pieces' which you assemble into a mission using a couple of text files. The mission itself is just one part of a campaign (a collection of missions).
- The second is labeled "Load Mod", and it lets you pick from mods you've already installed into the game's local data directory. If you need to find out more about how to install mods, just visit this page about installing Fringes of the Empire user-provided content.
A good place to start is by looking at our Table of Contents and reading through the content provided there. If you're familiar with how things work and don't need all of the necessary details, you may find the Quick Reference Card useful. There is also the Appendix which just has the tables needed to select things when writing scripts.
